These six patterns may be basic, but they are the foundation for many different sashiko patterns.
Koshi (Check)
These simple patterns were often used when stitching through many layers, like when making a rug.
Taikakusen (diagonal Lines)
These patterns can also be used as a base for more complex patterns that are traditionally seen on a noragi (work jacket).
